Death of Syed Haider Raza

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the great Indian painter Syed Haider Raza at  the age of 94. The work of this artist, also known as one of the most famous Indian contemporary abstract painters, was marked by recurrent patterns of the black point (bindu) , the circle (mandala) and the triangle (Tribhuj) incarnations of Indian spiritual symbols .

To promoto the work of Indian artists, he also created the Foundation Raza in New Delhi, which supports a Chair at the Institute for Advanced Study hosting Indian artists and writers for periods of 3 months to promote visual arts and exchanges between the Indian art world and the French public.
