The financial conditions of a stay at IAS-Nantes are determined on a case-by-case basis to better take into consideration the particular situation of each individual, within the framework of an agreement.
The following principles are applied to find an agreement:
- If the candidate comes from an institution (university, ...), they must first seek all types of support (particularly financial supports) they may be entitled to from the latter. This is justified by the fact that this institution will fully benefit from the work carried out during the fellowship and from the new networks that will emerge from it.
When an institution commits to maintain a selected candidate’s full salary during the fellowship for a partial compensation from IAS-Nantes, the Institute can contract with the institution and pay them the agreed compensation directly.
- If applicable, IAS-Nantes pays the selected candidate a compensation to avoid any break in the standard of living. This compensation takes into account the loss of income incurred, but also the difference in the standard of living between the country of origin and France. The amount of this compensation is calculated on the basis of the net remuneration that a researcher of equivalent level and seniority would receive in France, up to a monthly ceiling of 2,700 euros. Housing and meal expenses related to the residence are then deducted from this amount.
