How could a television channel openly aligned with - and supportive of - far-right ideas and figures have emerged within the French media landscape? While audiovisual media are legally required to uphold a principle of “internal” pluralism, CNews has contributed to a process of polarization in public debate and to a shift in the ideological center of gravity toward the right of the political spectrum. This event aims to identify the conditions that have made such a turning point possible.
Nicolas Kaciaf is a full professor of political science at Sciences Po Lille and a member of the CERAPS research center. His research focuses on the sociology of the media and journalism.
This talk will be moderated by Guillaume Cuny, a postdoctoral researcher at Nantes Université.
