The Institute for Advanced Studies in Nantes (IAS Nantes) is a place where researchers, artists, and intellectuals meet, discover one another, and foster fruitful exchanges. Photographer Anne-Marie Filaire and researcher Diego Landivar are a fine illustration of this spirit. After their dialogue at the Institute as part of the #IdeasDebates 2024–2025 series devoted to Anthropocene landscapes, they will meet again on September 27, 2025, at the Librairie Les Volcans in Clermont-Ferrand, for a conversation around the book Récit d’un effacement (Backland).
From 2019 to 2021, Anne-Marie Filaire followed the movement of millions of tons of earth displaced by the Grand Paris project, producing a documentary and political narrative that questions our relationship with the soil, landscapes, and the invisible transformations of our living environments.
