Inaugural Lecture of the Arts, Societies and Contemporary Transformations Chair – Rafael da Silva

On October 7, 2026, Rafael Segatto Barboza da Silva, artist-in-residence for 2026–2027 at the Arts, Societies and Contemporary Transformations Chair, will give his inaugural lecture at Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire. Supported by the City of Nantes, le lieu unique, Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire and the Nantes Institute for Advanced Study, the Chair fosters dialogue between artistic creation and the humanities and social sciences.

For this inaugural event, the Brazilian artist will present Maretórios: A Way of Living from the Waters, an exploration of the movements, memories and forms of knowledge connected to the Atlantic worlds and Afro-Brazilian cosmologies.
