L’atelier était organisé par Andrea Mennicken et Robert Salais en partenariat avec le Wiko Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

Andrea Mennicken de la London School of Economics and Political Science est un ancien résident du Wiko de Berlin (2013/2014).

Robert Salais, de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, est un ancien résident du Wiko de Berlin (2005/2006)et de l’IEA de Nantes (2011/2012).

Advancing our understanding of “power through numbers”

At the centre of the workshop is a concern with the power of numbers in representing, altering and re-creating social worlds. What powers do we attribute to numbers? What are the sources of their power? How do numbers interact with other kinds of authority, for example law? In what ways have numbers changed how we engage in politics? How have instruments of quantification altered modalities of governing and forms of personhood and subjectivity?
