Presentation

Ota de Leonardis is Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Social Research, University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy), where she is a Faculty member at the Postgraduate School of Sociology and Postgraduate School of Planning and Management of Social Policies, and member of the teaching board of the European Doctorate in Urban Studies URBEUR. At the same university, she is the founder and director of the Research Centre of Sociological Studies on Public Action Sui Generis. She is member of the Research Centre CSM (Centro Studi per la Riforma dello Stato) in Rome, of the Research Centre for Urban Policies URBAN@IT in Bologna, as well as member of the board of several Italian and European journals.

She was invited scholar and/or professor at UBA (Buenos Aires), EHESS (Paris), Sherbrooke University (Quebec, Canada), the IAS-Nantes, Universidad General Sarmiento (Buenos Aires).

Her main research focuses on institutions, on management and instrumentation of the public sector, particularly in the social policies field, and on the transformations of the public sphere, citizenship and democracy.
