Pekka has been appointed to the prestigious Rhodes Professorship of American History at Oxford University.

Pekka Hämäläinen , fellow in the IAS of Nantes (2010/2011), has been appointed to the prestigious Rhodes Professorship of American History at Oxford University. The Rhodes Chair is associated with St Catherine’s College. The Rhodes Professor is the senior member of a group five American historians in the Oxford Centre for Research in U.S. History, housed in and supported by the Rothermere American Institute.

Pekka will return to the University of California, Santa Barbara for the academic year 2011-12 before taking up his new post in the fall of 2012.
