Paris Attacks: IAS-Nantes Fellows and Staff’s Statement

"We, the Fellows and Staff of the Institut d’Etudes Avancees, Nantes, express our deep sorrow and concern over the senseless violence unleashed upon innocent and defenceless people in different parts of Paris. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. The attacks in Paris and,  very recently, in Beirut, Syria, Ankara, Kenya, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mali ..., are but part of an ever-escalating violence that can, and indeed does, strike anyone, anywhere in any part of the world.  Yet in that the French people are its immediate target, we wish to assure them that we, coming from five continents and various faiths and cultures, are with them in this hour of crisis."
