Fellow at IAS-Nantes in 2013-2014, Elena Astafieva is a permanent researcher (Chargée de recherche) at CNRS, membre of the Centre for Studies of Russian,Caucasian and Central European worlds (CERCEC,EHESS-CNRS). She graduated in history at the State University of Humanities in Russia (RGGU, Moscow) and received her PhD from the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE, Paris) in History and Religious Studies. Her research area focuses on the history of the Russian Empire from 1772 to 1917.
She has just published an article in Diplomatie : affaires stratégiques et relations internationales, entitled "La géopolitique du religieux ou la géopolitique par le religieux : le cas russe".
