Initial program: IEAoLU Tuesdays

The Institute of Advanced Studies Nantes, a centre of excellence which provides a place for humanities and social sciences researchers from diverse backgrounds to rethink the world together, is branching out into the city. In 2016-2017, it is co-organising a series of public conferences with well-known speakers on the second Tuesday of each month, in partnership with the Lieu Unique. The conferences will be held in French and will each deal with a major issue in today’s society with a strong international dimension. A wide range of subjects will be addressed such as the future of labour, economic and financial crises, the crisis of political representation, the future of Europe, the situations in China and the Middle East, the technologisation of society or climate change. Each conference will be organised as follows: the guest speaker gives a talk on a subject before one of the fellows from the IAS takes the floor to give an additional point of view. Subsequently, the discussion is continued with the audience.
