The Nantes Saint-Nazaire School of Fine Arts, the Nantes Institute of Advanced Studies, the Lieu Unique and Nantes Métropole are launching for the second time the call for application to the chair "Arts, Society and Contemporary Change".

Starting in September 2024, an international professional artist from the field of visual arts from the South (Africa, Central or South America, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania) will be hosted for a 6-month stay in Nantes.

The aim of this residency is to cross-reference contemporary changes through the arts and the human and social sciences. It intends to explore societal changes and the place of Man in this environment through the crossing of disciplines.

This chair will bring together the know-how, equipment, networks and missions of each institution to serve the world of arts and ideas in the metropolitan area.

On the occasion of the first residency within the framework of this Artistic Chair, we were delighted to welcome Elia Nurvista. Her research explores a wide range of artistic media with an interdisciplinary approach, and focuses on the discourse of food. Through food, she intends to examine power, social and economic inequalities in this world.
