Support the Institute

SEVERAL FORMS OF SUPPORT ARE POSSIBLE

A long-lasting commitment: the capital endowment

The capital endowment (which cannot be spent) allows the Institute to consolidate its financial autonomy by insuring a part always more important of the product of the generosities in its operational expenses. For the donor, supporting the capital endowment permits a "once and for all" contribution: these funds will never be spent, only the interest income on the endowment may be tapped to help meet the Institute’s operating expenses. The donor will thus benefit from a long-term recognition: its name will be associated in a systematic way with all the activities of the IEA of Nantes (conferences, colloquiums, publications, concert, brochures, Web site) and, depending on the size of the endowment, the donor will participate in the Board of directors

A temporary collaboration: the sponsoring of a chair with an annual grant.

The IAS of Nantes awards a research grant each year to selected researchers.
This allowance is in the form of a chair covering all expenses incurred in connection with the stay at the Institute: transportation, accommodation, equipment and research expenses... The amount of the chair takes into account the financial condition of the candidates in their country of origin.
The objective is to cause no disruption in the candidate’s standard of living during his/her stay in Nantes. By endowing the IEA foundation of Nantes a 100 000-euro sum, the donor provides one of the recipient researchers with a chair bearing its name. This support would be cited in every publication of the researcher, as well as in seminars or conference talks which the researcher may give during his/her stay in the IAS. Communication material published by the IAS would also mention the support of the donor (brochures, Web site). This support can be punctual one-time or recurring within the framework of a multi-year agreement.

An occasional participation: the coverage of a particular element in the life of the Institute.

Another kind of contribution may involve, very occasionally, a conference, an exhibition, a colloquium, a publication, a concert... It is also possible to contribute only partially to a researcher’s expense (transportation tickets) or to the cost of equipment of the Institute (vehicle, computer hardware or office equipment, furniture, works of art.. ). In every case, the event or the equipment would mention the name of the sponsor.

THE FISCAL ADVANTAGES TO THE DONORS (IN FRANCE):

You are a company:
The donations permit a tax reduction (company tax or income tax) of 60 % of the amount of the payment within the limits of 5 per thousand of the turnover (article 238 bis 1-a CGI). In case of overspending these limits or if the fiscal year is negative, your company has the possibility of postponing the adavantage of the deductibility within 5 years from the date of the payment.

You are a private individual:
1. Donations are deductible from the income tax. The donations made by private individuals in favour of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Nantes open to a tax reduction of 60 % within the limits of 20 % of the incomes of the donor. If the donations made by the taxpayer exceed the ceiling of 20 % of its incomes, the donor has the possibility of postponing (spread?) over 5 years the deduction of the surplus.
2. You are subjected to the ISF (Impôt sur la fortune). The donations in favour of the IAS of Nantes allows you to seek a reduction from it at the level of 75 % of the donation, within the limits of 50.000 euro a year (Law N 2007-1223 of August 21st, 2007 in favour of work, employment and purchasing power (J.O. of August 22nd, 2007), article 885-0 V twice A new CGI).
3. An heir can donate sums, rights or values received from the deceased in favour of a state-approved foundation and so may benefit from a deduction on transfer taxes on his net part. This deduction corresponds to the value of the properties or to the sums given in re-use
